Can Las Vegas Sands Casino Stock Continue To Rise?

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Las Vegas Sands
Las Vegas Sands has followed a similar fate as most other gaming companies in the past year. Their stock, which was long considered to be among the safest for any investor, had drastically dropped along with the rest of the market.

After experiencing the lowest of lows when the companies stock dropped to $1.38 a share, there has been a dramatic turnaround. The company has watched its stock price jump over 400% since March.

Whether or not it can sustain its upward rise or not is a question that many analysts are trying to answer. Some believe that the company has too much debt to have investors keep pumping up the price.

Other, however, see a chance for the stock to continue to rise if one thing was to happen, Sands must sell off their Macau casino. They have been trying to find a buyer, and if that sale does occur, some analysts believe it could be the key to sustaining a solid stock price.

At the close of the day on Friday, Las Vegas Sands stock was down for the day, but up for the week. The stock started on Monday at $8.68 a share. By Friday, the stock had risen to $9.91 a share.

Lakers Near Even Favorites to Win 2009 NBA Championship

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Want the nearest thing to a "sure bet" with barely a risk?

The Los Angeles Lakers were a -116 favorite to win the 2009 NBA Championship at Sportsinteraction.com heading into Friday night’s game.  Their odds of getting to the Finals were quite good.  In order for the Denver Nuggets to make the Finals they would need to win the remaining two games in the Playoffs series against LA.  The Lakers have not lost back-to-back games since March.

The Nuggets might very well be the better team in the Western Conference finals, with a deeper bench, more muscle and better health than the tired, injured and often disjointed Lakers. But they also tend to implode at the worst times.

"For most of the series, we outplayed them for most stretches of the game," Chauncey Billups said. "We just couldn’t get over the hump in the fourth quarter in a few different situations."

Denver has committed 11 technical fouls in this series and defensive stud Dahntay Jones is one more flagrant-1 foul away from a suspension.

Coach George Karl said he won’t rein in his players for Game 6 in Friday night in Denver, however.

"You guys are almost saying you’ve got to have savvy and poise to be a championship team," Karl told reporters Thursday. "I mean, you think the Detroit Pistons have the poise that the San Antonio Spurs have? No, I mean there’s a different way of handling emotional, passionate, intense players. We have some guys who are emotional. Maybe a little too emotional. But for me, I’m not going to tell them to stop that because I think that stops them from becoming a competitor.

"Right now, we’re competing on the best stage on a pretty good level. I think the Lakers know we’re there."

Unlike the Orlando/Cleveland series where the Magic have dominated Against The Spread over the last ten games, the Lakers and Nuggets have essentially split the series.

Denver was a -5 ½ favorite at home Friday night.

Online Vegas Casino Awards $30K In Cash After Weekend Tournament

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Online Vegas
It was a long weekend of slot playing for Divine Ms. A and other online slot players. Finally, on Tuesday, the $30K Guaranteed slot tournament ended and Divine was the winner and recipient of $10,000.

Divine had the lead for most of the weekend while competing against 1,590 other entrants into the weekend tournament. The winner finished with a closing balance of $69,260.87. That was good enough to hold off 2dollars, who had $41,832, and made a strong surge late in the tournament.

Online Vegas is a casino that is powered by Vegas Technologies. The software company has a network of casinos that also includes Super Slots and Golden Casino.

“This was one of the best tournaments that I have been a part of since signing up at Online Vegas,” said an online player with a screen name of Big Money39, “the extra day off had a big impact on me being able to play longer into the tournament.”

Unfortunately for BigMoney39, there was no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. For seventy-five players, however, including the top two, the weekend was a success. The top ten prizes were all given to individual players, with tenth place receiving $375.

after the top ten, ten players won $250, ten won $200, another ten won $150, and a forth group of ten won $100. The next ten spots paid out $50, and the last five paid $25. In all, that made seventy-five people that won more than the $20 entry fee for the tournament.

Intertops switches to RTG to re-enter US market

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Publicity earlier this month by the online gambling group Intertops, revealing that it was reentering the US market with a RealTime Gaming-powered online casino had industry observers speculating.

The longtime licensee of gambling software provider Microgaming has been constrained from US activity recently by Microgaming’s policy of not accepting new American sign-ups, and the deal with US-player-friendly RTG appeared to indicate a determination to change direction.

Intertops’s new US-facing casino uses RTG software. The operation is licensed in Antigua and Kahnawake and offers casino, sportsbook and poker action in English and German language versions.

On Wednesday Microgaming issued a press release announcing the amicable ending of its long relationship with Intertops, explaining that the agreement would not be renewed due to Intertops’s intention to operate in the US market.

“Microgaming has powered the well established (Intertops) online casino for over a decade, and has enjoyed a successful relationship with it,” the statement recalled, noting the sterling reputation that Intertops has established over the years.

Michl Posch, Head of Marketing at Intertops was equally generous with his praise for Microgaming, commenting: “Intertops Casino is proud to have been powered by such a reputable, market-leading, gaming software provider over the past decade. The assistance that Microgaming has provided in the change process has been extremely helpful.”

Celebrity Apprentice 2 Finale Ratings: Beats 60 Minutes

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

While the first hour of the 3 hour long Celebrity Apprentice 2 finale featuring Gambling911.com friend Annie Duke started off slow, the concluding hour managed to beat CBS’ 60 Minutes numbers and was closing in on ratings mainstay, Desperate Housewives.

Annie Duke, Joan Rivers, Donald Trump and company managed to reel in just shy of 11 million viewers that last hour.  Desperate Housewives had just over 12 million viewers.  60 Minutes had 10 million.

Even more impressive:  The Celebrity Apprentice 2 finale beat out ABC’s Brothers & Sisters (8.8 million) and CBS’ The Unit (9.7 million) in its final hour.

"We were pretty certain that last hour at least was a jackpot for the show based on Gambling911.com’s enormous traffic," said Payton O’Brien of Gambling911.com.

Searches related to the Celebrity Apprentice 2 finale were massive from 9 pm EST straight through to around 1 am in the morning.

"This was a strong indicator as to just how big the audience ended up being."

The Apprentice franchise nearly found itself cancelled just a few years ago.  Rivers and Duke’s nasty on-air feud, which carried right into Sunday night’s live boardroom, had pumped new life into the series.

The Celebrity Apprentice was renewed by NBC last week.

Doyle Brunson Demands Joan Rivers Apology to Poker World

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

"Worse than white trash", "tax evaders", "individuals with no last name":  These were just a few of the things comedian Joan Rivers has called poker players over the course of several weeks during her tirades against fellow Celebrity Apprentice finalist and poker pro Annie Duke.  She’s called Ms. Duke worse:  "Hitler" for example.  Two weeks ago her fired daughter, Melissa, referred to Annie as a "Whore Pit Viper".

Now Duke’s colleague in the poker world, Doyle Brunson, is demanding that Joan Rivers apologize to the poker world.

"Joan Rivers bought a scarf but she took it back because it was too tight," the feisty Doyle writes.

"Joan Rivers went to the doctor for a zit on her butt. He told her it was a brain tumor….[ouch]"

These were just a few of the Tweets from the newest Twitterer, and Doyle has promised not to let up until Joan Rivers apologizes to the poker world.

"If you gave Joan Rivers a penny for intelligence, you would get a refund."

Meanwhile, on Joan Rivers Twitter page (which is no longer associated with QVC), she is referring to Annie Duke as Ann-ME, a reference to the idea that Annie only talks about herself, according to Joan.

"If you really look closely, Ann-ME did a lot of sobbing when she won but not one tear came out," Rivers says. "Warch how Annie Duke does EVERYTHING and lets us know every second how brilliant she is…."

Rivers even continues to lash out at the poker community on her blog.

"Hey, poker playing is a very noble profession. Florence Nightingale was torn between nursing and a career playing Texas Hold ‘em…."

She does sort of back off the poker players however with this Tweet: "Poker players calm down! I was referring to one poker player as white trash, not all of them. So everybody in the poker world…CALM DOWN!"

We might be a little bias here at Gambling911.com but when it comes to Annie being in the final of Celebrity Apprentice but this is a MUST WATCH Sunday night as Joan Rivers goes up against Annie Duke beginning 8 pm EST.  Everyone is now talking about this showdown regardless of whether they play poker or not.
